It was a wedding to remember. This couple’s love and commitment to each other clearly reflects their strong Christian beliefs. What the groom said at length was summed up by the bride’s words: “ ..but most of all I promise to be a godly wife to you” As a godly husband, Christ expects us as husbands to live with our wifes in an understanding way – i.e. becoming a student of your wife (1 Peter 3:7)

As for a godly wife, verse 1- 6 of 1 Peter 3 is very challenging, but gives hope that even if a husband is an unbeliever he might be won over for Christ, without a word, only by the way a Christian wife lives out her reverent Christian life and keeps her trust in God’s sovereign hand over her marriage.

The apostle Paul compared the marriage relationship to the relationship between Christ and His church in Ephesians 5:22-33. A godly husband is expected to die for his wife. In dying for your wife, ask yourself: What do you do with your free time? Your free money?

Dear bride and groom, it is our hope and prayer that your godly example of biblical manhood and womanhood will be your offspring’s foundation for generations to come, an example that gives all the glory to God.
