Our first ‘Trash-the-Dress’ shoot – Billa & Maritza
Initially the concept of a ‘trash-the-dress’ shoot just seemed a bit too ‘glammy and imagy’…and I must admit, I didn’t want to bite. But then I was introduced to the idea of showing your loved one that you are even prepared to trash your dress in order to celebrate your commitment of love…and I thought that sounds good to me, for what do you want to save your dress!?
Billa & Maritza had a proper rainy muddy wedding day, with limited artistic imagery. So she decided to freely flaunt her dress to celebrate their first year of marriage and declare her love anew for her husband and lover. With all the interesting weather we had this season and lots of work in our hands, we kept on postponing the shoot…until we finally got to it…not knowing what would await us…
Personally we’ve postponed so many times, that I started to think that I might have dreamed of this day so much, that it started to daunt on me more and more. But the Word says our father gives us our heart’s desires and this was some spoiling for sure. When we got to the location I planned to use, the river that usually runs in a very deep riverbed, was overflowing it’s banks and shallow pools of clean water have formed everywhere!! I was overjoyed with surprise, adrenaline started to flow and an amazing shoot started to unfold, none of us knowing how far we were prepared to go!! Trust me, the water was ice cold!
When we were done, we felt so blessed and happy and rushed home to get Maritza in a warm bath and her dress in Omo! It was then that this specific song of Joe Niemand played in our cd player and my spirit was moved in a new way. His LOVE album has taken my relationship with God to a new level…I can’t get enough of it! After a lovely warm dinner with Billa & Maritza, I realized that this shoot was more than a ‘trash-the-dress’. It was a chosen couple with a strong LOVE to declare, a photographer being spoiled by her Father and a song in need of visual imagery to make the message even more stronger. Listen, see and feel how He feels about His Bride!!

Thank you for all the love you put into this project.
It was a wonderful experience and now it’s even more special!
Hi Lucy,
Well done!
Hi Lucinda!
Hierdie is ongelooflik! ‘n Eenheid van musiek, kuns en skoonheid.
Stunning!
