I had the privilege to photograph Gene\u00e9 Marais, just a bit spoiled by her parents for a few special photographs before her 16th birthday this Sunday.<\/p>\n

Although I know her parents, I’ve never met her…and what a beautiful lady she is! So I was curious to learn more about her, especially because towards the end of July this year, it will be the third time that she will be representing South Africa in the US Kids Teen Golf World Championships, in Pinehurst, North Carolina USA. She represented South Africa the first time at age twelve, also in the USA and the second time at age fourteen, at the European Championship in Scotland. <\/p>\n

And not only is she a passionate golf player, but does she understand that God is central to everything in her life and although we will always work hard towards a dream, He is the One gently stearing the rudder of our ship in life. And because of this wisdom and knowledge of who God is in our lives, winning or losing is not what keeps her moving forward or losing heart, but rather the God-glorifying relationships she can form in the process in order to shine His light in a dark world.<\/p>\n

So Gene\u00e9, thank you that I could capture a bit of you and learn even more in the process. I wish you ALL the best for the coming Championship, may you continue to do whatever you do, as if for Christ (Colossians 3:23). And may I leave one more encouraging Word with you:<\/p>\n

Always be ready to give a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God\u2019s will, than for doing evil.<\/em> – 1 Peter 3:15b-17<\/p>\n
