The ‘Famous Wedding Garment’ in Amsterdam, Netherlands
We got a chance to feature the ‘Famous Wedding Garment’ in Santorini and we did our wedding in Germany and then finally, we were off to Gert & Maryke…the bride-to-be for who this ‘Famous Wedding Garment’ were specially made! As I introduced them in our earlier BLOG (The Famous Wedding Garment), they live in Amsterdam and will be getting married later this year in SA. From the moment we mentioned a possible shoot with them in Amsterdam, they were so supportive of every idea. Maryke is an adventurous soul and nothing seems to be impossible for her. You just mention something and she will follow it through right to the final dot. She’s always been in love with Europe and when she and Gert fell in love, it was the beginning of something far bigger for them…it turned out that Gert got a job in Amsterdam and Maryke was ready with their suitcases!
So here we were, received by a warm Afrikaner welcome and off to explore the beautiful old canals and typical street scenes of Amsterdam. It was late already, but beautiful with all the ambient light. We just got warmed up and on the roll, when suddenly, a gale came by surprise and chased us back home. A huge storm followed that night and made headline news the next morning over most parts in and around the Netherlands. Luckily we could manage to capture a few beautiful images and even got a stunner in the gale!
