The Song of Songs – Ryno & Antoinette

We were really looking forward to capture Ryno & Antoinette’s wedding at Lavender Hill in Bethlehem last year!  The Eastern Freestate is one of our favourite areas and we knew it would be a special weekend in terms of scenery.  As a photographer you always dream of beautiful backdrops and settings and Lavender Hill Estate was one of those venues that I’ve always wanted to experience.  And more so for the fact that Ryno grew up on a neigbouring farm and that this specific valley was very close to heart for him.  If you see this area on a beautiful day it is really breath taking and that was my expectation!  Nevertheless, as sudden as the weather can change lately, and as Sovereign as Gods ruling over His creation is a fact, the clouds moved in very quickly and a rain storm broke loose over the day!

And it is in these moments, when a house of straw can be blown away and the house built on the solid Rock of all the ages, will stand firm and show it’s true strength.

I didn’t know this, but on this specific day, I would get to meet a couple, work close with this couple and feel the hearts of this couple…what an amazing experience.  Praise God for all the work He has done in every area of who they are.  Not only do their love for each other glorify God and sing the Song of Songs, but also their friendships, their relationship with their parents and the greater part of their body in Christ.  We laughed and we cried and we thoroughly enjoyed the day that was given to us, because the joy of living is not in our surroundings, but carried in our hearts.  Authentic in every way.

Ryno and Antoinette, thank you so much for blessing us with who you are.  May you make a difference wherever you go. Our prayer for you is that this will only be the beginning of much greater things and a beautiful part of scripture that really stirs me where Paul says:

“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”  – 2 Cor 12:10
